Is this digital manipulation, Photoshop, or AI generation?
Absolutely not. There is no artificial intelligence, digital layering, or Photoshop tricks involved. Every single image is captured 100% in-camera, in real time. This premium technique relies on long-exposure photography, keeping the camera's shutter open from a few seconds up to several minutes. By manually drawing custom light paths through the physical darkness, the camera records the movement as fluid, glowing brushstrokes onto a single live frame.
How is a session conducted?
Light painting requires an entirely dark setting. The ideal time to shoot begins immediately after sunset during the blue hour, continuing throughout the night, or within a fully darkened indoor space.
Once I secure my camera on a stable tripod, I will guide you into a comfortable pose. You simply hold still for three to five seconds while I sculpt the light around you. The result is an ethereal, completely custom piece of fine art.
Do I need professional modeling experience?
Not at all. The experience is designed for anyone. I provide clear, hands-on creative direction throughout the process. As long as you can remain perfectly still for at least three seconds, we will capture a striking and powerful portrait.
What equipment do you use?
I utilize a high-resolution Nikon D850 camera paired with professional wide-angle lenses to perfectly capture both the subject and the ambient environment. The light patterns are meticulously sculpted by hand using premium, professional-grade light-painting tubes designed specifically for fine-art light artistry.
How and when do I receive my images?
For interactive event activations, guests can view their portraits immediately on-site. A private, password-protected online gallery is delivered directly to your email within 48 to 72 hours following the event. Through this gallery, you and your guests have the exclusive option to order museum-quality fine-art prints in various custom sizes, shipped directly to your door.
What should I wear to my session?
Wardrobe choice dramatically influences the final artwork. Flowing fabrics, gowns, and lighter tones (white, cream, metallic, or vibrant colors) catch the light beautifully and create breathtaking motion trails. Dark clothing will make your silhouette recede, emphasizing the light patterns around you. I am happy to consult on wardrobe selections prior to your session.
What happens if the weather changes?
Because light painting relies on clear conditions for outdoor island backdrops, outdoor sessions are subject to weather tracking. If cloud cover or rain interferes with an outdoor shoot, we will either pivot to a pre-arranged covered/indoor location or reschedule the session to the next available clear evening.
Can you accommodate large groups during events?
Yes. The interactive event experience is wonderfully dynamic. While individual or couple portraits offer the most intricate light patterns, our setups can easily accommodate groups of friends, family, or event guests within a single long exposure.
